Fantasy Football Scoring

Ok last year we had a pretty good season and the top 8 teams were all pretty close in points. I was looking over how our scoring was done for last year and wondered if we should make a few changes for this years fantasy football season. Below is a poll to determine how many points you think we should be using for rushing, receiving and defensive touchdowns. Last season all touchdowns except passing touchdowns were 6pt. Free Fantasy Football At Yahoo Is Going To Sue NFL

Yahoo’s free fantasy football leagues and their premium pay fantasy football games have been a leader among many die hard football fans over the years. Yahoo has filed a lawsuit against the NFL Players Association who has been threatening to sue if Yahoo doesnt pay licensing fees for NFL player data used for stats tracking in their fantasy football leagues. Yahoo had a licensing agreement that expired in March but is stating that they shouldn’t have to pay for information that is publicly available. The Major league baseball players association lost a similar lawsuit in 2007.

With the number of fantasy football owners and league managers estimated at 15 million does the NFL players really want to tick off those fans. I would think the players association is already making more than its fair share off of the licences NFL hats, shirts, souvenirs, ball and other football player and team logo gear that they sell. Why do they need to squabble over fees for data that every newspaper, magazine, radio and television across the country publishes daily and hourly through the NFL season. From a fan stand point if Yahoo has to stop their free fantasy football leagues because it can’t afford the fees I will truly be upset. The price of NFL football tickets have already gone through the roof to the point that a dad can barely afford to take is son to the occasional football game. Well that’s enough ranting , I hope Yahoo wins this lawsuit

Gearing Up For Fantasy Football

Ok I know its a bit early yet but all these ads on the internet and tv for fantasy football are starting to make me drool. I’ll be working over the next few weekends to work out this years fantasy football setups and hopefully provide something unique to this years fantasy football league again. It’s almost time for nick to give up his spot for the world’s worst fantasy football player and redeem himself a a legitimate threat to atleast make it to the playoff’s this year. If you have any suggestions on something you would like to see in this years fantasy league let me know. I plan on starting some fantasy football for beginners tips and posts about how to draft a quality fantasy football team.

Brett Favre A Fantasy Football Nightmare

Just when you thought Brett Favre had retired for good, ESPN reported Tuesday that Favre is scheduled to meet with Vikings coach Brad Childress later this week about a possible comeback with Minnesota. He is a fantasy football nightmare that keeps coming back like a bad case of heart burn. It’s bad enough that fantasy owners have to worry about all the new rookies in the league but once again me may have to think twice about drafting an old classic like Brett. Now I’m not a huge fan of his but the guy definately has some talent and well we all saw what he did last year for the Jets but is it really possible that he could come back and have any real fantasy football value this year? Better keep your eyes open and do your pre draft studies before this years fantasy football season gets underway. Who knows maybe this is just what the Vikings need to actually have a decent year.

Avon Superbowl Commercial Are You Kidding Me

Ok now I’ve seen everything. I was patiently waiting to watch the Superbowl last night when right before or after the coin toss they went to commercial. This is nothing new and actually watching Superbowl commercials are often as much fun as the game itself, especially when your favorite football team isn’t playing. I couldn’t believe my eyes when the first commercial I watched was for Avon. What the heck is Avon doing advertising during the Superbowl. It wasn’t a sexy hot girl showing off one of Avon’s newest products , it was an advertisement to get people to sell AVON. If you didn’t know it Avon is basically a cosmetic and beauty care company that uses independent sales reps to sell their goods to the public. Had they been pushing some new mens product, a superbowl collectible or some football related items I could have understood but wtf. In the future I hope selling clearance avon cosmetics stays the heck away from my football games.

Life After Fantasy Football

Wow Sunday’s just aren’t the same without looking at my fantasy scores. Seeing that the Colts didnt go very far in the playoff I’m left with kind of a loss as what to do with my time on Sundays now. I did start looking into what type of activities I can do this spring once the snow has melted. As always fishing will be one of my main priorities during April, May and June. I hope to take another vacation this year to the Smoky Mountains. Instead of dragging the wife with me I think I’ll make this a fly fishing trip to the smoky mountains. Yeah I know there aren’t many fisherman among our group but maybe I can get some of you involved this year.

If fishing isn’t quite your thing the perhaps we can get a spring golf league started. I know most of you golf from time to time. Golfing down here in my neck of the woods during the spring is a real pain as much of he course is underwater. But heck if you pick up some cheap used golf balls on clearance there is nothing wrong with skipping them across the waterlogged fairways. Oh well you’ve endured enough of my rambling for today. Payouts will be coming shortly for those fantasy league winners.

Fantasy Football Tournament Winners

Congrats to the winners in this years Fantasy Football playoffs. It was a particularly odd ending to the season seeing both of the bottom seeded teams competing for the title this year. A special hats off to Corey the Brag Fantasy football league playoff champion. Pete better luck next year but hey at least you finished in the money. I’m sad to say that yours truly finished a pitiful 4th place after getting knocked off by Paul and his team Greed in the last week of playoffs.

This years most improved fantasy football team owner will be going to JP and the Green Machine. JP failed miserably last season as a fantasy owner redeemed himself placing 6th in the regular season and taking 5th place in the fantasy football playoffs. Grats on the great improvements JP.
